Ace Arranger Duvone Stewart tops Large and Medium Bands

Ace arranger Duvone Stewart led both his charges Medium Band Pan Elders and Large Band bp Renegades to victory in their respective categories last evening.

Bp Renegades Steel Orchestra retained the National Panorama Large Conventional title before a packed Grand Stand, Carnival City, Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain, Trinidad. The champion band  played the Farmer Nappy vocalized “Hookin Meh” to lead the pack of ten steel orchestras with 288 points, three (3) more than musical arch rival Desperadoes who amassed 285 points for their execution of “ Iron Love”, arranged by  Carlton “Zanda” Alexander.

In third spot was Massy Trinidad All Stars and the Leon “Smooth” Edwards interpretation of “So Long”. They received 284 points.

In the Medium Band category,  Pan Elders” with Stewart at the helm was awarded 282 points for their performance of “The Will” with Tobago’s Katzenjammers tally of 276 for their arrangement of “Stranger” while  NGC Couva Joylanders “Fire In The Area” filled the third placed berth  with 275 points.

At the end of almost ten hours of scintillating music, theatre and pyrotechnics, the champions were “crowned”.  The complete list of results is as follows:-

During the event, Pan Trinbago Awards were presented to Dr. Winston Bailey, Ken “Professor” Philmore and Winston Scarborough posthumously by the Hon. Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley, Minister of Community Development, Culture &  the Arts, Hon. Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly and Pan Trinbago President Mrs. Beverley Ramsey- Moore respectively.

Adjudicators were Ezra Joseph, Lambert Phillip, Laurel Broomes-Rogers, Lorna Conyette, Martin Albino and Richard Pierre (Medium Band) with Corinne Soo Ping Chow, Damion Phillip, Joanna Ragbir Lennox London, Roger Sardinah and Stephanie Powers (Large Band).

“Celebrating Our Cultural Icons – Catching the Rhythm, Feeling The Spirit and Prosperity” were this year’s Panorama watchwords.
