NGC Couva Joylanders crowned new National Panorama Medium Band Champs
NGC Couva Joylanders won not only the coveted National Panorama Medium Band title 2020 but also became the first steelband to be crowned at the history-making National Panorama Finals in Tobago.
The Central Trinidad- based band performing at position five won convincingly with the Stefon West arrangement of Dennis Williams/Winston Scarborough composition “It’s My Turn”.
The competition finals was held at the Dwight Yorke Stadium Parade Grounds, Bacelot, Tobago on Sunday February 16, 2020, before an sizeable audience including Her Excellency Paula-Mae Weekes, Minister of Community Development, Culture & The Arts, Dr. The Hon. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly Kelvin Charles and National Carnival Chairman Winston Peters.
Ten (10) bands competed for the $600,000. first place cash prize and the bp Challenge Trophy.
Themed “Celebrate De Pan”, the Pan Trinbago produced competition was a collaborative effort between the Tobago House of Assembly and The National Carnival Commission of Trinidad & Tobago,
