San Juan East Side Symphony is the new Panorama Single Pan Champs

San Juan East Side Symphony is the new National Panorama Single Pan Band Champion.

The band playing at position 16 amassed 283 points with the Carlan Harewood arrangement of Aldwyn Roberts’ “Iron Man” to dethrone two-time winner Newtown Playboys Steel Symphony. They tied with La Creole Pan Groove for fourth place with a total score of 273 points. See listing below for results.

The Pan Trinbago produced event took place at the Basketball Court, Arima, yesterday, Sunday February, 2019 before an enthusiastic crowd which included The Minister of Community Development, Culture & The Arts, Hon. Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, Mr. Anthony Garcia M.P., Chief Executive Officer National Carnival Commission of Trinidad & Tobago Mr. Colin Lucas, Mayor of Arima Her Worship Alderman Lisa Morris-Julian and Mrs. Sophia Philmore, wife of the late Ken “Professor” Philmore.

After the opening remarks by President Mrs. Beverley Ramsey-Moore, the first of twenty (20) finalists performed their tunes of choice before the panel of adjudicators comprising Joslynne Sealey, Dr. Audley Timothy, Brendon Moore, Bernadette Roberts, Cuthbert Matthews and Vorbin Cordice.

Selections ranged from compositions by Winston Bailey (5), Aldwyn Roberts (5), Ken “Professor” Philmore (2), Austin Lyons (2) Christopher “Tambu” Herbert (2), Slinger Francisco, Irwin Reyes Johnson, James Jovan and Clive Bradley one each.

A total of forty seven (47) Single Pan Bands performed their Panorama selection at panel of judges over a period of seven (7) days at their respective panyards in Trinidad & Tobago. 

Panorama 2019 is in tribute to “Our Cultural Icons”, Ken “Professor” Philmore, Dr. Winston Bailey, Winston Scarborough, Dr. Ellie Mannette and Dr. Clifford Alexis.
