Small, Medium and Large Conventional Bands Prelims Judging begins on Tuesday 05 February

Judging of the Small, Medium and Large Conventional Bands in this year’s National Panorama will commence on Tuesday 05 February with the first batch of ten (10) steelbands in the South/Central Region.

The remaining six (6) bands will face their panel on the following day, Wednesday 06 February at their respective pan yards.

Overall, a total of 100 bands from the North, East, South/Central and Tobago will compete in the three categories over an eight day period from Tuesday February 05 until Tuesday February 12 inclusive with the Tobago Small Band and North Large bands on the final day.

Similar to the Single Pan Bands Preliminaries, four judges in each category will form the adjudication panel in this round.  The order in which the judges will be visiting the bands is listed below.

For the purpose of the competition, participating steelbands shall be permitted to perform with a maximum number of players in each category ie Large (100), Medium (70) and Small (50) players in the Preliminary Round.

Score sheets will be opened on Wednesday February 13 at The Murchison Brown Auditorium (Port of Spain City Hall), Knox Street, Port of Spain, at 3:00 pm. The draw for playing positions will take place within the next two days at TTT Ltd.

Coming out of this exercise, thirty (30) Small Conventional Bands will proceed to their Semi Final Round on Saturday February 16, at Victoria Square, Port of Spain from 4:00 pm.

The Medium & Large Bands will compete on Sunday February 17 at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain, from 1:00 pm.

Theme of this year’s Panorama is “Prosperity In Pan… Feeling the Spirit… Catching the Rhythm… with tribute to our cultural icons Ken “Professor Philmore, Dr. Winston Bailey aka The Mighty Shadow and Winston Scarborough also known as D’ Original De Fosto Himself (all deceased).
