Steelpan Photographic Exhibition moves to San Fernando
Pan Trinbago Inc. T.C. will be taking its Steelpan Photographic Exhibition to San Fernando as the Organization continues to celebrate Pan Month.
Pan Trinbago Inc. T.C. will be taking its Steelpan Photographic Exhibition to San Fernando as the Organization continues to celebrate Pan Month.
After a successful run in Port of Spain, it will the southern city’s turn to host the event. This takes place on Friday 18 August at the Harris Promenade, San Fernando, between the hours of 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
The display is one of the activities in commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of the Declaration of the steelpan as the National Instrument of Trinidad & Tobago.
Dozens of photographs courtesy the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and The Arts will be mounted. These are in addition of the display by the Steelpan Tuners’ Guild of Trinidad & Tobago which traces the history and development of the steelpan.
Southern based steelbands, NLCB Fonclaire, Old Tech Steel Orchestra and Kalomo Kings will entertain visitors to the event.
Invitations have been extended to the Mayor of San Fernando, Alderman Junia Regrello and the San Fernando City Corporation, as well as the MPs, Senator Faris Al Rawi and the Hon. Randall Mitchell.
The next stop will be in Arima the following week at a venue to be announced.
In continuing with the observance of Pan Month, the South/Central Region of Pan Trinbago will be presenting “A Nation’s Pride” featuring Skiffle Steel Orchestra, Couva Joylanders, Pan Elders, Fusion Steel and Tropical Angel Harps, on Sunday August 27, at the Couva Joylanders Pan Yard, Railway Road, Couva Show time is 7:00 pm and contribution is $60.
