Classical Jewels Returns ... from Jules To Jemmot

From Jules To Jemmot

Ten-time National Panorama champion in the large conventional category Massy Trinidad All Stars will dominate the weekend music production circuit with its trademark Classical Jewels XI showcase being held with the theme From Jules to Jemmott.

The National Academy for the Performing Arts on Frederick Street, Port-of-Spain, is venue for this two-day musical fare, which sounds off from 8pm tonight. Tomorrow’s (Sun) programme begins to hours earlier.

Admission is $300. Part proceeds will be donated to Goodwill Industries Vocational School for children with special educational needs.

In a year which began with a historic 10th National Panorama victory, for the band, members of Trinidad All Stars considers Classical Jewels XI to be the pinnacle of 2017.

Classical Jewels XI will showcase the best of Massy Trinidad All Stars Steel Orchestra.

Preparation for the band has been on-going for months. The weekend presentation is a culmination of months of work to reposition the Classical Jewels brand which evolved back in 1974.

This year’s showcase is dedicated to Trinidad All Stars’ heroes Neville Jules, ex-leader of the band, and former music director Fitzgerald ‘Jerry’ Jemmott.

While paying tribute to these legends Massy Trinidad All Stars will seek to delight patrons with its musical tapestry.

Under the music direction Deryck Nurse, Trinidad All Stars will share the spotlight with music collaborators violinist Eleanor Ryan, soprano Rahel Moore, vocalist Sheldon Reid, the UWI Arts Chorale and our very own Dane Gulston.

There are guest conductors, too. They are: June Nathaniel, Jessel Murray, Mia Gormandy and Sule Sampson. When the youth arm of Trinidad All Stars take up playing position in the spotlight, Kygel Benjamin, will be it musical director.

The concert details are as follows:
• Date: Saturday November 18thth and Sunday November 19th 2017
• Time: 8pm (Saturday), 6pm (Sunday)
• Venue: National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA), Frederick Street, Port of Spain
