Steelpan Activities Continue Throughout the Country

Pan Trinbago Regions have heeded the clarion call from the President to stage events within their zones during the year.

Already off the starting block is the Eastern Region with its ongoing “Pan For The People” series. The next event in the series, the third, is carded for Sangre Grande at the Cordettes Pan Yard on Saturday July 27 featuring First Citizens Super Novas.

On Saturday June 28, Pan Trinbago South Central Region along with Seon’s Bar & Associates will be staging “Steel Brass Soca” at Skinner Park San Fernando.  The event features “lots of big bands” .Shell Invaders, Massy Trinidad All Stars, Fusion Steel, Caribbean Airlines Skiffle and Couva Joylanders. These bands will each have a guest calypsonian during their repertoire. They include Brian London, Singing Sandra, Christo, TK London, Jonelle Manwarring and Mighty Trini. The latter will naturally be performing with Trinidad All Stars Steel Orchestra.

Several DJs such as DJ Whiz, Black Gold and DJ Swanky will be on the playbill. Gates open from 6:00 pm with show time one hour later at 7:00 pm.  Admission is $150.

Come Friday July 05, it will be Northern Region’s turn to host its activity.  Under the banner “Grand 1-2-3 Plus Extravaganza  - Let’s Celebrate with the Region Champs”. The event promises to be a spectacular one,  Venue is the spacious Desperadoes Pan Yard Tragarete Road, Port of Spain, from 7:00 pm. Admission is $150.

Performers include bp Renegades, Desperadoes, Massy Trinidad All Stars, Shell Invaders, Courts Sound Specialists of Laventille, and The Defence Force Steel Orchestra with  guest appearance by Shell Invaders Youth Steel Orchestra, winner of the 2019 Under 21 National Junior Panorama Competition.
