Pan Explosion

Pan Explosion

It will literally be a (steel)pan explosion as the St. James Community Improvement Committee kicks off this year’s edition of WeBeat St. James Live.

With a playbill comprising the dynamic sounds of National Panorama 2017 champion Massy Trinidad All Stars, Junior Panorama winners bpRenegades Youth Steel Orchestra, evergreen Samaroo Jets and past Panorama and Pan in the 21st Century winner PSC Silver Stars, the event showcases the best of pan in a concert format.

“Pan Explosion” is carded for Sunday June 04 at the St. James Amphitheatre, Western Main Road, St. James, from 6:00 pm. Admission is $150. with advance tickets at Crosby’s St. James and Cleve’s.   Limited tickets will be on sale at the venue on the day of the show.

Pan Explosion is one of two steelband oriented events on the week-long calendar of events. The Festival culminates in Steelband & Traditional Mas Street Parade on Saturday June 10 along the Western Main Road strip.

Patrons can bring their drinks. Ices, non-alcoholic beverages and finger foods will be on sale at the event.

In addition, patrons can enjoy the melodic sounds of Scrunter’s Pan Groove as they enter, setting the stage for more sweet pan music inside.

St. James CIC is giving pan music lovers and lovers of music an opportunity to experience the sheer magic of the national instrument and at the same time, afford the steelbands an opportunity to present their repertoire in a noncompetitive setting.

WeBeat St. James Live 17 pays tribute to its founder and First President Earl Crosby while celebrating this year’s honoree Woo Ling’s Supermarket.
