Diaz urges preservation of Pan Trinbago legacy

“We will work hard to make sure Panorama (2018) is a successful one,” says Pan Trinbago president Keith Diaz.

Speaking to leaders of Single Pan Bands at a meeting convened at the VIP Lounge, Grand Stand, Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain, on Tuesday, he gave the membership this assurance.

The punctual start of all shows on the Panorama roster is high on his executive’s agenda, he said.

“What we have to do as an organisation is to make sure that the legacy of George Goddard, Arnim Smith and others (presidents) are preserved. Panorama 2018 will be celebrating 55 years. It is one of the oldest events in the country,” Diaz said.

He delivered a progress report on meetings held with his regional chairmen in the four zones: north, south/central, east and Tobago, held in an effort to ensure this year’s productions runs smoothly.

“I was very clear in speaking to the steelband regional executives to make sure we are efficient,” he said.

The present economic climate and its impact on the steelband fraternity did not escape Diaz’s attention.

Meetings between the NCC and Pan Trinbago, he disclosed, have been frequent since the appointment of the new board led by Colin Lucas six weeks ago.

“We all know the economic climate. We submitted our programme and why I am not going to say the figure, is because negotiations are still on-going,” he said.
